UKCA transition period for construction products extended to 30 June 2025

Transition period UKCA for many products extended to 31.12.2024 - special regulations for construction products not yet known

As we have learned from the homepage of the British government, the UK government has decided to extend the transition period for CE-marked products to 31.12.2024 again. So far, however, this postponement does not yet apply to all products. This also includes construction products. The ministries responsible for the sectors concerned are currently making sector-specific regulations. The legislation is expected to be passed shortly.

EN 1627 - 1630 newly published: PIV offers update and testing for new series of standards

The new EN 1627 - 1630 series of standards has been published with the issue date November 2021. Therefore, the Testing Institute Locks and Hardware [Prüfinstitut Schlösser und Beschläge Velbert (PIV)] now offers testing according to the current version or, in case of an existing certificate, updating to the new series of standards.

Test results recognised for award of UKCA marking

The Brexit has changed a lot. One of them is CE marking: from 2022, the CE mark will no longer be recognised in the UK. Instead, the CE marking is to be replaced in the UK by the UKCA (United Kingdom Conformity Assessed) marking introduced in January 2021. As now officially confirmed by Warrington Fire, Warrington, UK, tests at the Testing Institute Locks and Hardware Velbert [Prüfinstitut Schlösser und Beschläge Velbert (PIV)] can be recognised as a notified body by institutes in the UK, so that permission to use a UKCA marking can be achieved. In the future, it will probably be the case that tests from German testing institutes in the notified area will be generally recognised.
